About Chasing Miracles
As magical as books may seem, they do not spontaneously come into existence. Neither are they created by the mear incantation of words. They emerge overtime, often inspired not just by the imagination of a single person but by numerous others around them. Chasing Miracles is no different.
Nine years ago, I was once again tasked with putting Amelie, my little sister, to bed. As ever there was an insistence that I should read her a bedtime story. I rifled through her library of books and the usual suspects emerged: Emily Brown, The Selfish Giant and Eddy and the Bear. Amelie then insisted that we should read Emily Brown for what must have felt the one thousandth time. This time though I decided that I would change it up and try to make up a story on the spot. A story that would be entirely unique Amelie and have her as the main character. I mean how hard can it be?
As it turns out, very hard! Over the course of many bedtimes, I mumbled through a long slightly incoherent narrative. It was filled with plot holes and pauses as I tried to think where it could go next. However, when it reached its conclusion, I thought that it might just be good enough to turn into a real book and that is how Chasing Miracles started.
Many years has passed since then and the story is now finally published as a real book!
